Minimum wage implementation: NLC urges resilience among workers

The outgoing chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Yobe state chapter, Comrade Lawan Ibrahim has called on the incoming leadership of the union to prepare their mind to face the changes that would arise in pursuit of assuring that the new approved national minimum wage is actualized for the benefit of all workers in the state.
He made the appeal yesterday during the 6th state delegate conference of the union that took place at the conference hall of the state Council for Arts and Culture in Damaturu, the state capital aimed at electing new leaders to run the affairs of the union for the next four years.
“For the incoming leaders, I want to remind you that you have a very big task ahead particularly the issue of the new national minimum wage dialogue is a key to that, but prepare your ground to face these challenges,” he urged.
He however, appealed to the state congress to support the new movement and give them all necessary support as they embark on the struggle and thanked them for the support they have given to the outgoing throughout its tenure.
While commending the outgoing governor of the state, Alh. Ibrahim Gaidam for his concern and support to NLC in the state, he appealed to the state government to, among other things, complete the remaining work at the state secretariat of the union as well as giving attention to the implementation of the national minimum wage of N30, 000 and the restoration of the annual leave grant to civil servants
