The Minister of State for Regional Development, Barrister Uba Ahmadu Maigari, has commissioned several development projects executed by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) in Gombe State, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to accelerating development in the region.
The minister, who was in Gombe on a two-day working visit over the weekend, carried out the commissioning alongside the Chairman of the NEDC Board, Major-General Paul Tarfa (rtd), and the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Mohammed Goni Alkali.
Speaking during the exercise, Maigari commended the NEDC for what he described as impactful and people-oriented projects, noting that the Commission has made significant contributions to improving the living conditions of communities across the North-East.
He assured the Commission of the continued support of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing that the Federal Government remains committed to providing the necessary backing to enable the NEDC achieve its mandate of rebuilding and stabilising the region.
According to the minister, the commissioned projects would go a long way in addressing critical needs and enhancing social and economic development in Gombe State and the wider North-East.
“The Ministry of Regional Development remains fully committed to supporting the North East Development Commission. We will continue to provide the necessary assistance to ensure that the Commission delivers on its core objectives of positively impacting the lives of Nigerians,” he said.
Projects commissioned during the visit included healthcare facilities, construction of school hostels, renovation of educational institutions, and the commissioning of the NEDC office complex in Gombe, among others.
