The Minister of Water Resources, Engr Suleiman Adamu, has said he is pleased to associate with the successes and initiatives of the Director-General of the National Water Resources Institute, (NWRI), Prof. Emmanuel Adanu.
The minister made the commendation during the commissioning of some key capital projects at the NWRI in Kaduna yesterday.
Engr Adamu said the NWRI has been one of the most vibrant and consistent parastatals in the Ministry of Water Resources that is contributing to national development and representing Nigeria internationally, hence it deserves modern technological facilities to operate.
He added that the evidence available is that, confidence reposed on the NWRI is not misplaced.
The projects commissioned include; a 50 Bedroom Students Hostel, that provide conducive accommodation for short course middle-and high-level participants from within and outside Nigeria at affordable cost.
The other project is a Hydraulic Modelling Centre initiated to provide knowledge and necessary skills for fluid flow system such as a water system, dams, reservoir analysis, sewer system or a storm system, used to analyse systems’ hydraulic behaviour.
The Minister also commissioned a 100 Seater Lecture Theatre initiated to provide a conducive learning environment and sitting minimum capacity for 100 participants.
“I enjoined the management, staff and students maintain these facilities and double their efforts and commitment towards making Nigeria great again,” he said.
Earlier in his remarks, the DG of NWRI, Professor Emmanuel Adanu, thanked the minister for his support of the Institute since his assumption of office in 2015.
He also said the ongoing plan to upgrade the Institute to a full fledge Water Resources university initiated by the minister is a welcome development, and pleaded for him to push more to make it a reality.
