Mischief: Police arraign 2 for joint act

The police have arraigned two men in the Wuse Zone 2, Senior Magistrates’ court, Abuja, for joint act, criminal force, assault, intimidation and mischief.

The accused persons, who were arraigned on a five-count charge, are Samuel Thaddeus, 21 and David Thackleus, 24, both of Jahi village, Abuja.

The police prosecutor, Cpl. Sani Yusuf, told the court that one Mr. Belhert Maduka of Jahi village reported the case at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Mabushi, Abuja, on May 20.

Yusuf alleged that the accused entered the complainant’s house with common intention to beat him up and threaten his life.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the Penal code.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty and denied the allegations.

The Magistrate, Mr. Christopher Oba, admitted the accused to bail for N400, 000 each with a surety each.

He said that the sureties must be reasonable Nigerians with evidence of income tax payment for the year 2013, adding that both sureties must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.

He adjourned the case to July 13 for further hearing. (NAN)
