The Plateau State chapter of Miyyati Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria ( MACBN), has debunked the recent media reports ( not Peoples Daily) credited to the chairman of MACBAN north central, Dalladi Chiroma, that the group was responsible for the killing of over eighty people in villages of Bariking Ladi local government area of the state.
The association said the report was untruth would not be accepted.
Some media houses were reported to have published a story that said the group through its north central chairman had claimed responsibility of killing eighty people as a reprisal to the killing of Fulanis in the state.
In statement signed by the state chairman of the group, Nura Muhammad Abdullahi said, “We write to express our shock and dismay over the false media report that has went viral against us, alleging that we have admitted carrying out violent attacks on some communities in Plateau State.
“It is of paramount importance to address an issue of falsehood meted on us by some sections of the media particularly, the Nation Newspaper and the Premium Times online, alleging that Fulani herders had admitted carrying out a retaliatory attacks because our cattle were killed.
“The stories or reports were only but mere falsehhod and open hatred against by the said media outfits that carried them.
“We make bold to say that Alhaji Danladi Chiroma, has never made such a stupid statements, the truth about the whole news are unfounded and the media houses are only acting on the script of our enemies, in order to tarnish our good reputation.
“For the record, it is our firm resolutions that we demand prove of such assertions allegedly credited or attributed to Danlandi Chiroma, we also demand for an unreserved published retractions and apology from both media outfits, to avoid engaging into litigation.
“While we hereby in this statement made our position on the incessant killings of Fulani herdsmen, cow rustling and destruction of properties by the Berom and Irigwe militia on the Plateau. These are common in Fan District of Barkin-Ladi and Bassa Local Government Area,” the statement said.
On the resurgence of the unfortunate and condemnable violence , the group narrated the series of incidents that had had happened to its members.
The group, however, called on the government of Plateau state and security operatives to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to book.
