The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT on Saturday inaugurated newly elected executives in the area.
In an interview with newsmen during the Inauguration, the Chairman of MACBAN in Gwagwalada, Mallam Ibrahim Ciroma, urged the officials to always work in accordance with the Oath administered by them.
He also called on the executive members of the association to join hands with him in order to arrest the problems confronting the herders and the farmers in Gwagwalada and the FCT at large, tasking the executives to cooperate with the security agencies in Gwagwalada at all times.
He appealed to the Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Hon. Abubakar Jibrin Giri to deem it necessary to drill boreholes for the Fulani in their communities, urging the Chairman to Partner with the INEC to enable the Fulani to register their members during the voters’ registration in the area.
Ciroma, therefore, recalled that when he was caretaker Chairman of Miyetti Allah he had contributed a lot to the progress of MACBAN in the area of security of the numbers.
Also speaking at the Inauguration, the FCT Chairman of MACBAN, Alhaji Yahaya Isah, urged the Gwagwalda Miyetti Allah new officials to remain focused on the development of the association, and pleaded with them to fear God in their dealings.
He expressed with confident that the Fulani are not only the bad eggs in the society in terms of kidnapping and banditry, adding that no tribe was left out in the area of criminality in Nigeria.
He pointed out that any cattle rustling, kidnapping and banditry operations were linked to the Fulani in the FCT and the country at large, noting that other tribes are also the perpetrators of evils in our society.
The FCT MACBAN Chairman used the occasion to call on both farmers and herders to resolve their disputes in the area of destruction of farm produce, while warning the farmers against poising the corps in order to assassinate the herders’ cows.
