Monarch flees palace after gun attack in Kogi

The traditional ruler of Ette in Olamaboro Local Government of Kogi Dr Aron Akor has fled his palace following an attack by gunmen.

The monarch who spoke with newsmen from hiding His hideout in Okpo on Tuesday said he fled his palace on August 30th following an attack on him at about 1:00 am on August 29th by unknown armed men.

The armed men, he said aside injuring him and setting his properties ablaze ,strangled his security guard, Shaibu Apeh to death, pushed the body under the kitchen table and invaded his bedroom demanding the release of all papers pertaining to Kogi State Government in respect of the boundary.

The Onu-Oda-Adogo who described himself as a “refugee” said the house of a Special Adviser to the governor and Youth Leader, Godday Eko, the clan chief of Ebe as well as Chiefs of Ochigide, Aishi and Ajefunu were also destroyed.

The monarch said the case was reported at Okpo Divisional Police station and the police later took the body of the deceased Apeh to the hospital adding that the case was later transferred to the state police command in Lokoja.
