Mother kills 2 own children over husband’s second wife in Kano

A housewife, simply identified as Hauwa, living at Diso quarters, Gwale Local government area of Kano state has reportedly killed her two children over a matrimonial dispute with her husband, Ibrahim Haruna Aminu on Saturday.
PEOPLES DAILY gathered that the ensuing crisis started when Aminu married another wife recently.
Family sources said Hauwau and Aminu had been in crisis since taking another wife, prompting her to kill her own children, Yusuf Ibrahim and Zahra’u Ibrahim, 5 and 3 years old respectively.
The sources added that the mother stabbed the deceased children severally until they stopped breathing at the sight of her eldest daughter, Zainab who is 10 years old.
The sources added that the suspect, who is currently at large was said to have brutalized another woman in the neighbourhood before fleeing the scene.
The Ward Head of Diso area, Malam Ahmad Bello confirmed the incident to newsmen while expressing shock over what he described as brutality.
He said the incident, according to information at his disposal, occurred when the husband was at his new wife’s home early on Saturday.
Devastated Ward Head condemned the act, suggesting that the mother should have taken the matter to court instead of taking the laws into her hand to kill the innocent children.
Kano Command Police Spokesman, DSP Abdullahi Haruna confirmed the incident, saying that said the command is investigating the situation.
He said the command would address a press conference as soon as investigations were completed, as they are collating details of the incident.
