A youth group, Northern Youth Good Governance and Democratic Coalition, have accused the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), of trying to scuttle president Goodluck Jonathan’s 2015 ambition.
This was made known in an issued statement, signed by the national president of the coalition, Usman Hamid and National Secretary, Pastor Attah Ochoga Mark, where the coalition expressed its disdain for the recent disposition of the national chairman to the candidacy of the president, even as they quoted him to have declared the seat an open contest. They said this was tantamount to Adamu Mu’azu, biting the fingers that fed him.
“What most Nigerians do not know is that the clandestine move the PDP National Chairman is actually to edge out President Jonathan in 2015, not 2019, the same President Jonathan on whose back re rode to power despite the availability of an array of better and more qualified candidates at the time”, it read in part.
It went on further to question the rationale behind the idea of instituting a National Chairman’s support group in all 36 states of the federation, as done by Mu’azu, claiming that the group was a cover for his shadow campaign team which he hope to metamorphose into his final campaign team.
“Evidence of Adamu Mu’azu’s Presidential ambition has always been there in the open for long though most people did not realize it. Very early in the day, Mu’azu set up what he surreptitiously christened National Chairman support group in the 36 states of the federation and the FCT. Come to think of it, of what use is a support group to the National Chairman of a party, which already has structures up to every village in Nigeria if not for covert reasons?, the group queried.
Meanwhile, the youths who have resolved to stop at nothing to ensure that the antics of the national chairman are exposed, have called on the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the party and the President to monitor the actions of the National Chairman, so as to prevent the PDP from falling into ruins by such anti-party activity, as according to them anything affecting the party which is the largest political party in Africa will inversely affect the nation at large.
