Chairman Northern Governors Forum (NGF) Governor, Muazu Babangida Aliyu of Niger state over the weekend suggested to President Goodluck Jonathan as a matter of urgency to redeem all the promises made to Jigawa state during the 2011 electioneering campaign to avoid crack in the ruling People Democratic Party.
The NGF Chairman made the call while speaking at the flag-off ceremony for the airlift of the 2014 Nigerian Pilgrims to Saudi Arabia held at Dutse International Airport Jigawa state.
Dr. Ma’azu Babangida Aliyu noted that “since I saw the outburst of Governor Sule Lamido last week on pages of the national dailies I sensed something has gone wrong and there is fire on the mountain which need to be put off before going out of hand.”
He explained that, it is very paramount and in the interest of PDP and national development for federal government to refund the money Jigawa state government spent in building Dutse international airport and the construction of some federal roads in the state”.
According to him, “I am advising the vice president who is here with us to relay the information to Mr. President to release money for the take-up of Dutse larger water supply schemes, Auyo irrigation project and all other project that the federal government promised to execute in Jigawa state during its campaign in 2011”
He also commended governor sule Lamido for executing projects that would improve the social and economic lives of Jigawa people and Nigeria at large.
Jigawa governor had declared that Jigawa people would not support President Jonathan comeback bid in 2015 as a result of not fulfilling electioneering campaign promises to the state
