Muslim community urges peaceful coexistence between Deltans, non-indigenes

The Muslim community in Asaba and its environs, have sued for peaceful co-existence among Deltans and Non-indigenes of the state for the benefit of unity and progress of Nigeria.
The Chief Iman of the Issele-Uku Central Mosque, Alhaji Mohammed Iliasu told journalists in Asaba yesterday that peaceful co-existence of Nigerian people irrespective of their religion cannot be compromised, and called on those seeking disunity to have a rethink to ensure unity prevails.
Also, the Delta State Police Command has assured the safety of non-indigenes and indigenes of the state, and warned against taken laws in hands by groups of persons operating under illegal groups.
The Police Commissioner who made this known at an enlarged meeting with members of Non-indigenes in the state at the weekend, thanked them for their understanding for not taking laws into their hands during the attack on some Hausas’ traders by suspected hoodlums.
He said: “I am particularly grateful for the maturity displayed by non-indigenes in the state, the police guarantee your safety as investigations are ongoing to stop the perpetrators from further unleashing terrors, we will deal with those who have constituted themselves to hoodlums, and make the state war zone”.s
