Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, has commended the leadership style of Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, describing it as purposeful and results-oriented, particularly in his role as Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum.
Governor Mutfwang made the remarks on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to his Gombe State counterpart, noting that security in Northern Nigeria remains a top priority for the Forum and a matter of deep concern to Governor Inuwa Yahaya.
He also applauded Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s visionary initiative to establish a permanent Secretariat for the Northern States Governors’ Forum, describing it as an unprecedented move aimed at strengthening coordination and institutional effectiveness among the states.
According to Governor Mutfwang, the Secretariat is expected to become fully operational by the first quarter of next year, a development he said would enhance collaboration and ensure more effective management of issues affecting the region.
He further disclosed that resolutions reached at the Forum’s last meeting in Kaduna are already being actively implemented, expressing optimism that sustained cooperation among Northern governors would lead to tangible improvements in regional security.
Commenting on speculations about a possible defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Mutfwang responded with a smile, saying, “As soon as it happens, you will hear it.”
In his response, Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a strong demonstration of unity and shared commitment among Northern leaders. He acknowledged Governor Mutfwang’s support within the Northern Governors’ Forum and reaffirmed his determination to continue working collectively to address common challenges facing the region.
Governor Mutfwang was accompanied on the visit by the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daniel Naanlong Gapyil, alongside other senior government officials.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya received his guests in the company of his Deputy, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau; Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Luggerewo; Deputy Speaker, Hon. Saddam Bello; former federal lawmakers, members of the House of Assembly, commissioners, and other top government officials.
