Mystery  as Final-Year FUL Student Found Dead Along Lokoja-Abuja Highway

Date:

Tragedy struck in Kogi State as a final-year student of Federal University Lokoja, Sarah Idoko, was found dead along the Lokoja-Abuja Highway under circumstances that have sparked outrage and calls for justice.
The lifeless body of the student was discovered on Saturday night near the Crusher area along the Felele axis of Lokoja after she was allegedly dumped by unidentified assailants.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing a vehicle stop briefly at the location around 8 p.m. before speeding off. Passers-by later found the body by the roadside and alerted security operatives.
Initial reports had identified the deceased as a student of Kogi State Polytechnic after an identity card bearing her name was recovered at the scene.
However, the Kogi State Police Command later confirmed that she was a final-year student of Federal University Lokoja.
Confirming the incident, Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Naziru Kankarofi, said investigations were ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding her death and bring those responsible to justice.
“The command is working to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and track down those responsible,” he said.
The police chief assured residents that the findings of the investigation would be made public and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring justice for the deceased.
Reacting to the development, the Association of Nigeria Female Students condemned the killing, describing it as cruel, heartbreaking and unacceptable.
In a statement signed by its State Coordinator, Celina James, the group called for a thorough investigation and urged authorities to strengthen security around campuses and student communities.
The association noted that the tragic death has once again raised concerns over the safety of students and residents along the Felele corridor, a major gateway into Lokoja that has witnessed several security-related incidents in recent years.
