N-HYPPADEC inaugurates FOI committee to ensure transparency

National Hydro Electric Power Producing Areas Commission (N-HYPPADEC), has inaugurated its Freedom Of Information (FOI) committee to ensure transparency and accountability in service delivery.

The Managing Director of N-HYPPADEC, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa made this known during the inauguration of the committee and training with the theme; Empowering Accountability Through Freedom Of Information FOI.

Yelwa said this is in compliance with the federal government policy for every federal government institution to constitute the committee as one of the reforms of civil service not to operate in secrecy.

Represented by the Special Assistant to the Managing Director, Professor Yasin Abubakar who charged the 11 member committee to leave to their responsibility by working assiduously to achieve its purpose and assured them of full support in carrying out the mandate successfully.

He stressed the importance of the FOI committee urging the team to swung in to action without hesitation and advised the participants to pay attention actively in order to achieve good results.

In his remarks, the Accountant General of the Federation represented by a Director of Ministry of Justice, Barrister Godwin Garuba applauded the commission for been the first to inaugurate the FOI committee.
