Kano state government has assured that its over N14 billion independent power project being undertaken by the Kwankwaso administration would become fully operational this year.
Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso of Kano state who inspected the power turbines to be installed at the Tiga nad Challawa dams implored the contractors to ensure that the project begins operation before the end of this year.
He observed that the company handling it is one of the most reputable firms in India which is working in such a way that the economic activities of the people of Kano would be enhanced.
Kwankwaso pointed out that the project would produce 35 megawatts of electricity which would be used to power street and traffic lights, industries and sold to the general public.
Addressing the students the governor urged them to face their studies seriously to enable them become responsible citizens that would pride to the government and people of the state.
A statement by the Director of Press and Public Relation to the Governor, Halilu Ibrahim Dantiye said the governor had visited the India Film Academy to further collaboration in making the Kano Film Institute at Tiga a reality.
He thanked the management of the academy for their visit to Kano recently to assess the facilities at the Institute and advice on how best to make it one of the best Film Institutes in Africa. He assured that all the necessary improvements have been made and is now ready for final take-off.
He revealed that conducive atmosphere has been provided to enable actors and actresses to explore their full potentials in the film industry.
