N6m Nigerians contribute N4.2trn to pension scheme

The Acting Director General, National Pension Commission,PenCom, Ms Chinelo Amolu Amazu, has disclosed that N4.2million had sofar been contributed into the pension scheme, by six million Nigerians.

She made this disclosure yesterday, during the world press conference in Abuja, on the World Prension Summit Africa Special, which will be holding in Abuja on 7th and 8th July, this year.

According to her, the preocupation of the Federal Government of Nigeria at the moment was how to give a new face to the country’s pension sector. She said this had become necessary in view of the fact that the country’s GDP had just been rebased, thereby allowing for more opportunities to develop the pension sector of the economy.

The PenCom boss stressed, The focus of this World Pension Summit is on Africa, and it will be attended by 55 countries and people will be able to discuss how to reshape the pension industry.
