The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI carried out precision airstrikes on terrorist positions within the Yuwe axis of the Sambisa Forest, killing several insurgents.
The Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja.
Ejodame said the strikes were conducted on Monday as part of sustained military efforts to intensify pressure on terrorist elements operating in the North-East region.
According to him, the operation followed credible intelligence, further validated through Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), which confirmed the presence of terrorists within fortified structures and bunkers in the area.
He explained that NAF air assets deployed precision-guided munitions to engage the targets, resulting in the destruction of the structures, neutralisation of multiple terrorists, and the elimination of key logistics facilities.
Subsequent Battle Damage Assessment, he added, confirmed the effectiveness of the operation.
“The sustained tempo of air operations continues to degrade terrorist networks, leaving them increasingly exposed and disrupted, with mounting pressure forcing them into desperate and reactive actions,” Ejodame said.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Aneke, reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to maintaining relentless, intelligence-driven operations until all terrorist elements are neutralised.
“We remain committed to the protection of our personnel, the security of our nation, and the safety of all citizens.
“The NAF will continue to intensify precision engagements across the theatre, maintaining decisive operational pressure while strictly adhering to rules of engagement and minimising civilian harm,” Aneke said.
