NAFDAC flags off anti–drug hawking campaign in Kaduna motor parks

Date:

From Muhammad Ibrahim, Kaduna

Worried by the rise of drug abuse among drivers in Kaduna state, the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) state Coordinator, Mr. Kenneth Azikiwe has kicked-off campaign against hawking of counterfeit drugs within the state’s motor parks.

Flagging off the campaign at Kawo Central Motor Park in Kaduna, he said most of the hawked drugs are expired, adding that they were usually smuggled into the country illegally.

He explained that most of the expired drugs have already lost their efficacy, quality, purity and strength.

“We urge members of the public to patronize only registered drugs outlets, which can only guarantee genuine drugs,” he said.

Similarly, Public Education Officer of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna state sector command, Mr. Dajangla Martins, also commended NAFDAC as he said the initiative will no doubt help checkmate motorists that patronize hawkers before embarking on their journey.
