The Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC) has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) to advance agricultural development and sustainability across Nigeria.

This was made known on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by ICRISAT representatives to NAIC’s head office in Abuja, where both parties explored areas of mutual interest and cooperation.

Speaking at the meeting, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NAIC, Hon Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani, declared full support for the proposed collaboration.

Danfulani reiterated NAIC’s commitment to fostering strategic partnerships that drive sustainable agricultural practices and safeguard farmers against risks.

He noted that such collaborations are vital for improving resilience in the agricultural sector, particularly in regions affected by climate change and erratic weather conditions.

The NAIC boss described the meeting as a timely opportunity to align goals and strengthen institutional ties in support of Nigeria’s broader food security objectives.

Officials from both organisations affirmed their shared vision and pledged to work together to deliver practical solutions that will benefit smallholder farmers and the larger agricultural ecosystem.
