The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has passed a vote of  confidence on the Minister of Education, Ibrahim Shekarau, just as it disowned one Comrade Tijani Usman Shehu, for attacking the Minister, pointing out that Shehu  is not a registered student of any university and therefore cannot be  the President of NANS.

This was in reaction to the statement issued yesterday by the factional NANS leader, Comrade Tijani Usman Shehu, that the student body has declared war against Shekarau and called on President Goodluck Jonathan to immediately sack the minister over what it called ‘dishonorable actions’.

Addressing a press conference yesterday in Abuja, President of NANS, Comrade Ali Wali, passed a vote of confidence on the Education Minister, recalling that upon his emergence as minister, Shekarau resolved the lingering ASUP strike in a matter of weeks.

He said “We are proud to say that President Goodluck Jonathan has once again placed a round peg in a round hole by appointing Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau as Minister of Education”.
