The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has assured of its support and synergy with the state government in order to provide more humanitarian services to the people of the state.
This, the House is advocating for improve founding for the ministry of humanitarian affairs to handle emergency cases promptly instead of relaying on approvals.
Hon. Hajarat Danyaro Ibrahim, the Chairman, House Committee on Women Affairs stated this when the management of the Ministry of Humanitarian, Special Duties and NGOs appeared before the committee on its 2024 budget performance today in Lafia.
Hon. Danyaro said that the people of the state need more humanitarian services in order to improve on their standard of living.
The Lawmaker said that the committee decided to invite them in order to assess their 2024 budget performance for the first quarter.
The committee chairman appreciated the ministry and Gov. Abdullahi Sule for being up and doing in providing humanitarian services that would improve on the standard of living of the people of the state.
She pledged the committee’s readiness to support the activities of the ministry to succeed.
“ The ministry is in dear need of office accomodation, equipment and staff among others. We will support you to succeed,” she said
She called on the ministry to do more in wooing NGOs to key into the State humanitarian programs and interventions to bring more succour to the people of the state.
Earlier, Hon Margret Elayo, the Commissioner of the Ministry has appreciated the committee and the House for the support the ministry is getting from them and called for its sustenance.
She said that the ministry is doing every thing humanly possible to improve on the standard of living of the people of the state.
“ We are doing everything humanly possible to improve on the standard of living of the people of the state,” she said.
The commissioner, however, identified the challenges facing the ministry to include office accommodation, staff among others.
In a related development, the House Committee on Women Affairs hosted the management of the Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission on its 2024 budget performance.
Hon. Hajarat Danyaro Ibrahim, the Chairman of the Committee lauded Gov. Abdullahi Sule for prioritising the welfare of people living with disability in the state.
She also urged the Management of the commission to carry other members of the association along while discharging its duties.
Hon. Hajarat Danyaro Ibrahim assured of the committee’s support to the commission to succeed.
Earlier, Mr Tafida Adamu Jibrin, the Permanent Member One of the commission appreciated the House and Gov. Abdullahi Sule for funding its activities in the state.
He assured to provide all inclusive leadership.
