Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Judiciary, Ethics and Privileges, has promised to give maximum support and enhance its synergy with the State Ministry of Justice to overcome funds and other challenges facing the ministry for effective service delivery.
The Committee also lauded the ministry on its 2024 budget performance.
The Chairman, House Committee on Judiciary, Ethics and Privileges, Barr. Esson Mairiga gave the assurance when the Ministry led by the Commissioner Barr. Shuaibu Labaran Magaji appeared for budget performance today in Lafia.
He said that the Committee decided to invite the ministry in order to assess their 2024 budget performance.
He said: “ We are going to look into your funds challenges to ensure quick administration of justice and for effective service delivery.
“ We will support and partner with you for quick administration of justice.”
He urged the ministry to continue to be up and doing in ensuring speedy administration of justice in the state.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the State, Barr. Shuaibu Labaran Magaji appreciated the Speaker, the Committee and Members of the Assembly for their support to the Ministry.
He solicited more robust synergy to strengthening the judicial system in the State and by extension the Country.
Magaji commended the Assembly for the passage of Local Government law, describing it as one of the best in the country so far.
He, however, decried the inability of the Ministry to access its one percent for contract drafting and vetting from the money paid to the contractors working for the State.
The Commissioner also appealed to the Committee to assist the ministry to access the one percent for contract drafting and vetting from the revenue board that collected all revenues for the State.
