Nasarawa begins measles immunization campaign for children

The Nasarawa state Primary Health Care Development Agency, Social Mobilization Technical Committee (SOMTEC) in collaboration with international donors is set to embark on measles immunization campaign for children in the state for 2018.
This was made known at the SOMTEC meeting held yesterday in Lafia the state capital by the chairman Mr. Allahnana Attah.
Mr Attah added that the SOMTEC meeting was aimed at mobilizing the people on the significance of immunization government activities as well as foreign donors on the health issues in the state.
According to him, “As stakeholders. You are saddled with the responsibility of mobilizing the people on vaccination, immunization and other relevant health matters”.
Attah also said that the meeting was geared towards keeping people abreast on the plan work for immunization sensitization on the forthcoming 2018 measles immunization for children in the state by the primary health development Agency in collaboration with WHO, UNICEF and national Primary Health Care Development Agency.
“I urged relevant bodies to give effective message on the basis of immunization. You can preach the message in our churches, mosques, market places and social gathering”. Attah maintained.
Also speaking, the Director, state Primary Health Care Education, Mr. Godwin Otso said that the state agency is prepared to kick start measles campaign in conjunction with foreign donors for children immunization scheduled for February 2018.
He applauded the Nasarawa state government for its frantic effort geared towards the health sector, especially on vaccination and immunization exercises. Governor Almakura has placed so much emphasis on health by financing the exercise process when the need arises.
“Nasarawa state primary health care development agency is happy with Governor Almakura’s prompt attention accorded to the health sector. I call on the stakeholders to put in their best to do the right thing in order to complement government effort,” Otso added.
