The Nasarawa state government has void to arrest and prosecute every fishermen who make use of harmful chemical substances in fishing through the state.
These are some of the warning made by Hon. Commissioner Ministry of Agriculture and water resources Prof, Otaki Alanana Osana, during an urgent meeting with the congress of fishermen at the state ministry of Agriculture.
Professor Alanana expressed concern over the continuous use of harmful chemical to pollute the water which will affect the ECO system as it will kill the fish and the animal in the drink the water.
He said these ugly trends was because of its hazardous impact on the health of the animal, humans and also its devastating effect on the environment.
The Commissioner maintained that Governor Sule was worried over the illicit fishing which will cause diseases and death of animal and human, as he advices the fishermen to pass the information to various group in the community with the help of village head, district heads and all those involve in fish business to join in the crusade against the deadly acts.
