Nasarawa govt. to extend water scheme to LGs by 2020 -Official

In its desire and determination to cater for the need of the urban and rural communities in the state, the Nasarawa State Government has rolled out a plan to extend the provision of water scheme to local governments and development areas across the state by 2020.
The State Water Board General Manager, Umar Abdullahi Angbo who made the disclosure in an interview with newsmen yesterday in Lafia, the state capital said, “the state government have taken into cognisance the provision of water to the citizen. This gesture is commendable.”
Narrating the achievements so far recorded by the state government in the area of water supply, Angbo added that government had brought to live the Nasarawa Eggon Water Scheme, Nasarawa Town Water Scheme, Wamba Solar Borehole, Deddere Water Project, Keana Water Scheme amongst other schemes in the state.
Angbo also maintained that the state government has intensified effort to transmit water from the Doma Dam to Lafia Metropolis in order to meet up with the increasing population.
According to him, “the original Akwanga water supply is going to have a boost in terms of maintenance so as all communities around will have adequate water supply for consumption. We must commend the government for the laudable achievements recorded in the area of water supply”.
He continued, “Awe Town is having challenges of water due to the salinity. Government is doing everything possible to transmit water from Kekura to Awe town very soon. Awe shall witness water supply by next year 2020. Government is also making ways to provide solar boreholes to rural communities in the state. All rural communities have been taken into cognisance by Governor Abdullahi Sule in the area of water supply”.
“I call on all communities in the state to support the vision and focus of Governor Sule in order to move the state forward developmentally,” he said.
