The Nasarawa state Head of Service, Mr Abari Nicholas Aboki has debunked insinuation padding around by mischief makers that the state government has compelled civil servants in the state to sign vouchers without salaries.
Mr. Abari who asserted this yesterday while briefing newsmen on the issue in his office in Lafia, the state capital; added that nobody was compelled to sign any voucher without salary.
According to him, “ I don’t think that someone was compelled to sign any voucher. What government is doing now is verification of staff in all the ministries. Because we have reoccurrence problem. People are dying or retiring and there is no drop in the state wage bill”
He continued, “ Government wants to authenticate what is happening. We identified there are lapses where people retired or died and such cases are not reported officially to government. That is what government want to known whether you are a staff or not”
Mr. Aboki further maintained that the issue of signing vouchers does not even arise because all those civil servants that completed their verification in time were all paid their salaries and are waiting for October salaries now.
The Head of Service, however, admonished civil servants in the state to excel by contributing immensely to the development of the state as well as the nation at large.
“ We all belong to Nasarawa State. Let us compliment government effort by exhibiting the spirit of hardwork for our children to emulate”. he added.
