From Ali Abare Abubakar, Lafia
Education secretaries from across Nasarawa state have commended the leadership of the State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB), for revitalizing basic education in the state.
The education secretaries, under the aegis of the Forum of Education secretaries made this known during an interactive session with the board which took place at the PTA House in Lafia.
State chairman of the forum, Othman Aliyu Kokona, in an opening remark, expressed appreciation to the executive chairman and his management team for their stewardship.
“We called this meeting to particularly appreciate the executive chairman and his management team for the prompt attention accorded basic education in Nasarawa. This is indeed unprecedented” Kokona said.
He described the meeting which afforded both sides the opportunity to interact and share ideas on the way forward, as not only fruitful but beneficial as according to him, members of his forum have imbibed the cardinal thrust of the board under the leadership of Mallam Abdulkarim Muhammad Abdullahi.
“We are taking along with us responsibility, punctuality and transparency” he added.
In a brief remark, executive chairman of the board, Mallam Abdulkarim, observed that it is paramount on leaders to open up to new ideas, stressing that the country is where it is today because and according to him, political leaders have become childishly emotional because of the lack of avenues for the ventilation of ideas.
“Governance is about exchange of ideas. We have come a long way because of this interface. We are developing a blueprint to enhance the capacity of our education secretaries” he stated.
He noted that there is nothing better than collaboration and collective commitment to serve the society.
