NASPPAM distributes farm inputs loan to 2,361 Kebbi farmers

The National Association of Sorghum Producers Processors and Marketer of Nigeria (NASPPAM) Kebbi State chapter in collaboration with CBN and Keystone Bank has distributed 2019 wet season sorghum farming inputs to the 2,361 sorghum farmers across the 21 local government areas of the state.
The ceremony which took place yesterday at the premises of NASPPAM office, Birnin Kebbi, addressing the beneficiaries the State acting permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture Mohammed Lawal Sheahu commended the organization for the programme, assuring them that the state Government is ready to promote agricultural production in the state.
He admonished the beneficiaries that they should use the inputs according to what it was made for, thanked the CBN and keystone Bank for their support in giving out loans to the farmers.
In his remark, the state chairman of the association who was represented by the director in charge of finance, Bawa Ingila Zauro said that the loan is to support their members in farming and reduce their financial suffering.
He explained further that over N100m loan was secure by the CBN through the keystone Bank which the beneficiaries will pay back after the harvest, urged them to be committed to the agreements and used the items judiciously.
Speaking to one of the beneficiary, Bala Umar from Yauri Local Government Area, said that the inputs will support their farming, assuring them of paying back at the stipulated time.
“We thank our Union for supporting their members every year, this is not the first time and we do paid back after the harvest,” he said.
The items shared are fertilizer, chemicals, spare pumping machine and others.
