Information Minister Mr. Labaran Maku has said that the return of the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Mr. Luka Damishe, to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is the beginning of the end of APC rule in Nasarawa State.
A statement by the head of Media and publicity, Ministry of information, Joseph Mutah, said the Minister made the remarks in Abuja when he received Damishe, who was on a courtesy call to his office.
According to the statement, Maku observed that the principal actors of the APC in the National Assembly from Nasarawa State have since returned to the PDP.
“Let me say that Damishe’s return to PDP in Nasarawa State marks the beginning of a free fall of APC in the state because in the last one year, we have continued to receive virtually anybody who has weight in APC returning back to PDP in Nasarawa State. We received virtually all the key leaders of the legacy parties back to PDP,” he stated.
He was confident that because of the stability brought into the PDP by the new National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Muazu, the party is waxing stronger and repositioning to win back more states from the opposition and retain its leadership at the federal level come 2015 general elections.
The Minister said the fortunes of the APC is dwindling in Nasarawa State because the party lacks clear cut vision on how to transform the state and expressed regrets that since the emergence of the ruling party in the state, inter-ethnic solidarity and harmony had broken down; a situation which plunged the state into avoidable violence marked by the wanton destruction of life and property.
