The National Council for Arts and Culture said the new vision of the council is to use Arts and Culture as a veritable tool for job creation, income and wealth generation that will in turn stimulate rapid socio economic growth and development in the country.
This was disclosed during a three(3) days retreat held for all zonal directors in Abuja .
The Director General NCAC Otunba Runsewe stated that the 3days retreat was to review the mandate of the NCAC under the current dispensation for the purpose of repositioning the Council for improved efficiency and better performance.
Runsewe maintained that the council is now more determined to move Nigeria from total dependence on oil for economic growth by harnessing its Arts, Crafts and cultural products in diversifying the economy for integrated growth and development.
According to him ,he has directed the zonal directors to carefully study the waste to wealth programme initiated at the headquarters and see how they can integrate and implement it in their various zones.
Consequently, the Director General said the Skill Acquisition Programme of the Council was initiated to equip unemployed Nigerians especially the women and youths with skills that will make them to be independent.
