The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has again fined mobile operators; MTN, Globacom and Airtel N647.5 million penalties for defying federal government order by providing poor quality of services to subscribers.
A statement signed by the Public Relations Manager, Mr. Reuben Mouka said the mobile operators were fined for breaching key performance indicators thereby providing poor quality of service to consumers.
The statement further said that the aforementioned fines would ban the three mobile operators from selling their Simcards from March 1 2014.
According to the statement, Glo was fine 277.5 million, MTN and Airtel 185million naira each and that refusal to pay at the stipulated time will attract 2.5 million naira each as from March 7 as penalty charges, the statement said.
Despite the ban, NCC urged subscribers of the three networks are allowed to port into various networks.
