The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed reports circulating about the outcome of its primary elections in Kano State, stressing that no official results have been released anywhere in the country.
The clarification comes amid growing speculation over alleged alterations to a list of successful candidates, with claims that aspirants linked to the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, had been removed.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the NDC urged members and the public to disregard any purported results currently in circulation, describing them as unofficial.
The party also disclosed that its national leadership has stepped in to mediate disagreements involving the Kwankwasiya Movement and legacy NDC officials in Kano State.
According to the statement, a high-level meeting involving leaders of the Kwankwasiya Movement, NDC officials, and the party’s national leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, was held to address concerns and foster greater inclusiveness within the party structure.
The NDC said the discussions, which lasted several hours, were constructive and aimed at ensuring all stakeholders are adequately represented in the party’s affairs.
Reaffirming its commitment to internal democracy, the party maintained that it would not impose candidates in Kano or any other state, emphasizing that transparent and participatory processes remain central to its political philosophy.
The latest intervention by the party leadership signals an attempt to preserve unity and prevent internal disagreements from escalating as preparations for upcoming electoral contests continue. The comments come amid growing speculation over Jonathan’s political plans and the PDP’s strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
