NDE trains 100 youth in organic agriculture in Kaduna

National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in collaboration with the Prestigious Bridge Training Institute trained a total of 100 youth in organic agriculture to be self reliant in Kaduna state.
The directorate described the Organic training initiative as very important as it will help create job opportunities and upgrade the living standard of the beneficiaries for better quality life.
NDE Director General Malam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo who spoke at the 3-day Training for the participants at the Organic Agriculture held in the state, said the directorate was established by the federal government to address the rising cases of unemployment across the country for over three decades.
He explained that the Rural Employment Promotion Department through it’s strategy of training modern Agricultural skills is one of the four programmers departments saddled with the responsibility of generating employment opportunities in the agricultural sector for the unemployed youth in the country.
He said the program trains unemployed youth in the Agricultural value chain such as production, storage, processing of, post harvest handling and management, preservation, packaging, marketing, agricultural extension and rural sociology as well as other innovative and technological driven skills in the agricultural sector.
“ We are here to flag off the training of 100 participants in organic agriculture in collaboratio with Prestigious Bridge Training Institute . The training will enable you to acquire knowledge and skills in organic farming production across the value chain in your areas of interest to become a self reliant, create wealth and generate employment opportunities for others.
“Organic agriculture is a global phenomenon adopted worldwide to disabuse the use of chemical inputs to cultivate crops and livestock production to prevent the adverse effects of chemical inputs on humans”he said.
The DG added that Organic agriculture r is a production system that sustains the health of soil, ecosystem and people, it relies on ecological process, biodiversity and cycles adapted to local condition rather than the use of chemical inputs with adverse effects.
