NDIC to train orphaned children on financial discipline

Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has expressed its determination to train orphans on financial discipline by  partnering with Hafsat  Yuguda orphanage home in Bauchi in order to improve the living standard of orphans in the state.

This was disclosed by the Managing Director of NDIC Alhaji Umaru Ibrahim shortly after the presentation of items and cash donation to the Home in Bauchi state yesterday.

Represented by the Director Bank Examination Department of NDIC, Adedapo Adeleke, the MD who commended the management of the orphanage said they were impressed with the management of the Home which caters for the children abandoned by their parents as well as those that their parents have died.

The MD said, “NDIC is determined on the social responsibility of teaching the children on how to manage their funds and resources, and to also train them on financial discipline so they can have plans towards their future.”

He said some of the children live in the home while some come from their residential houses daily and the facility is of good standard. “We are impressed that they (children) don’t want to be isolated, they want to get people to look after them and integrate them into family life.” He said.

The MD said they were in Bauchi to celebrate with the orphans noting “we are here to celebrate with the little children who are orphan and in order to get closer to our people and contribute to the development of our people.”

The Zonal Controller NDIC Bauchi Mr. Emmanuel Vontou said the event is part of 25th Anniversary of the Corporation. He said the event is running concurrently in the six geopolitical zones of the country.
