Officials of the Nigerian Diaspora Youth Ambassador have met with the Vietnamese Ambassador to Nigeria, Bui Quoc Hung, over the welfare and communication challenges facing Nigerian youths in Vietnam.
The meeting, held at the Vietnamese Embassy in Abuja, focused on school fees payments, visa renewal, security and other logistics affecting Nigerians studying and living in the Southeast Asian country.
President of NDYA, Amb. David Victor Alozie, said the visit was aimed at finding practical solutions to the concerns raised by Nigerian students abroad.
He said difficulties in paying school fees directly from Nigerian banks to Vietnamese institutions formed a major part of the discussion.
“We came to the Vietnamese Embassy to talk about Nigerians living or studying in Vietnam and the issues affecting them. We had a very successful meeting with the Ambassador,” Alozie said.
He disclosed that both parties discussed measures to ease tuition payment challenges, adding that the ambassador promised to look into the matter.
Alozie also revealed plans to inaugurate a Nigerian youth representative in Vietnam to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
According to him, the outcome of the meeting would be communicated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission and other relevant authorities.
“The task is to ensure our youth in different countries are in a safe and conducive environment. Their safety matters a lot to us,” he added.
Speaking, Hung said the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on youth development and diaspora engagement between both countries.
He noted that discussions centred on helping Nigerian youths overseas integrate globally while contributing to national development back home.
“We shared measures and solutions to help Nigerian youth overseas integrate into the world and also come back to help their own country,” the ambassador said.
Hung added that both nations were considering a platform to strengthen cooperation and promote concrete youth-focused projects.
On his part, NDYA Legal Adviser, Barrister Chekwube Eze, said the meeting paved the way for structured engagement between Nigeria and Vietnam on youth development.
He said plans were underway to hold a follow-up meeting in Vietnam to inaugurate a youth representative and establish a clear information channel for Nigerians travelling for business, education or vocational purposes.
Other members of the NDYA delegation included Director of Travel and Tourism, Engr. Comrade Stephanie Pam, and National Secretary, Comrade Jacob Apollos.
