The National Emergence Management Agency, NEMA has advised the internally displaced persons, IDPS been camped in various strategic official camps in Adamawa State not to be hasty in returning back to their displaced abodes until the security agencies declare such areas safe and secured for inhabitation.

The NEMA camp coordinator of IDPS in charge of Adamawa state Adamawa, Alhaji Sa’ad Bello gave the advice in an interview with journalists in Yola yesterday stressing that people that want to go back to these areas and those who want to sponsor people back should seek for clearance from respective authorities before embarking on such journeys.

Bello said “We appreciate the effort of the military, we must also ensure that people that are been sponsored back to their homes are safe not only from insurgents but also from getting infected as a result of smell from the decomposing dead bodies”

“Though only the military can declare these areas free and safe but we as disaster managers are also in a better position to adverse because we work with health workers, faith based organisations the Red Cross and other relevant agencies

He added that “NEMA conjunction with Adamawa state government and ADSEMA evacuated and gave mass burial to the corpses that littered the areas, we still believe that some dead bodies are still in the bushes and even in some homes, we are doing everything possible to ensure total safety for our people”.

He further disclosed that out of the 128 children that were admitted into the camps unaccompanied only 7 of them have being reunited with their families and that the agency have been able to reach out to over 40000 IDP’s all over the state.

Similarly the executive secretary Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency ADSEMA, Mallam Haruna Hamman Furo has yesterday declared that it had successfully organized surgery operations for over 50 Internally Displaced Persons, taking refuge in various camps in the state.

Furo Made the disclosure while making appraisal of activities of the management in Adamawa State, even as he said that the patients were drawn from various IDPs camps in Yola.
