Nembe City players in accident scare

Date:

The Players and officials of Nembe City FC travelling to Gombe for their week 11 league encounter with Gombe United narrowly escaped death when their bus skidded off the road and fell into a side gutter.

The incident happened Monday night in Enugu as the team had planned to pass the night in the ‘Coal City’ state before continuing their journey on Tuesday.

According to an eye witness, the bus on ascending a steep hill along the newly constructed Independence Layout exit to Enugu/Port-Harcourt express road started rolling backward and skidded the walkway and found itself in the gutter.

“It was a harrowing scene to behold. The bus just started rolling back from the top of the hill and it was God’ grace that the traffic had thinned down when this incident occurred. It would have been a big calamity,” stated the eye-witness, John Ofoma.

Technical adviser of the team said in a chat, “I really thank God for His mercies today. All I can remember is that the bus just started rolling back after laboring to climb and we found ourselves in this ditch.”

“I hope that repair work will be completed on time for us to complete the trip for our match against Gombe United. Thankfully, the players did not sustain any bodily harm but are still in great shock over the accident,” stated the technical Adviser.

Club financier, Chief Victor Baribote-Rumson, who was not with the team when the accident happened, could not be reached for comments.
