The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) yesterday licenced Trombay Power Generation Limited to operate a 500 MegaWatts power plant, a statement by the commission has disclosed.
Chairman of NERC, Dr. Sam Amadi commended the company’s Group President, Jitendes Kumar Sachdeva for the painstaking process he was subjected to in the course of the application for the coal- powered plant.
The 500MW power plant is located at Wajari Village along Dadinkowa Road, Yamaltu local government area of Gombe state.
“I commend your patience and perseverance to follow through your application. Coal power plant is becoming important the effort to in diversify our fuel source’’
“I hope you will follow through your timelines in constructing your power plant with the same dedication you displayed in the course of this application.’’ Amadi said.
The Commissioner, Legal Licensing and Enforcement, Dr Steven Andzenge in his response to the commendation by the Chairman said ‘’ this is a milestone in the sense that it is in line with NERC’s objective of diversifying our fuel source’’
In his response, the Group President of Trombay Power Generation Limited, Jitendes Kumar Sachdeva described the exercise as most welcoming. He commended the Commission for its transparency and commitment in processing the application.
“I am glad to receive this licence,” said the Group President, “the Commission is a truly transparent and smart regulatory agency. You people are very smart.”
