NESREA to reintroduce environmental whistle blowers

The National Environmental Standard Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA) said the agency is set to bring back environmental whistle blowers in the country , in an effort to achieve a greener governance of the environment.
The Director General Dr. Lawrence Anukam who made the disclosure during a press briefing on the National Stakeholders’ Forum and celebration of NESREA at 10 ,which is slated to hold from 12th – 13th of December 2017 with the theme “Environmental Governance, A Key to Achieving Green Economy”
Dr. Anukam who emphasised that “It has become of importance to involved citizens in environmental participation.
“The idea of environmental whistle blowers is to get citizens involved as watch dogs of sustainable good governance of the environment “.
According to him the primary aim of the stakeholder’s forum was to deepen the knowledge of environmental governance for green agenda and having a developmental plan of greener economy.
“To achieve environmental governance all stakeholders, legislators, media, NGOs , Churches, Mosques, ministries and agencies must collaborated whole partnering with international organisation for effective participation of better green economy in Nigeria “.
He also stated that capacity building and intelligent sharing will maintained a sustainable consumption and production of smart green cities, green transportation among others.
