A network of young Nigeria professionals is set to unveil an initiative, as a platform to help galvanize the active participation of the citizenry in the running of their country.
Speaking at a pre-launching press conference of the initiative tagged “The Team Jonathan Global Initiative”, in Abuja, the Spokesman of the Network, Ojugo Onyelukachukwu, said the move is a clarion call on the citizenry to rise up in defence of their nation.
He added that it is time for all Nigerians to encourage leadership without bitterness, leadership with focus, leadership with fairness and leadership of inclusion embedded in sincere humility.
According to him, Nigerians have been disillusioned due to the many years of destruction occasioned by greed, avarice and dirty politics in the land; which have made them to see no reason whatsoever to exercise their inalienable right to determine their fate as a nation.
“Developmental issues are daily been trivialized by people who don’t see beyond their economic interest or political relevance.
“Politics does not have to be vindictive; politics must be about issues, as we need and women who will defend our nation.
“So as a group, we will go even to the hinterlands to sell this that we believe in; because the people at this moment cannot afford to be complacent, as it is our life, our destiny and our future.
“In furtherance of this, there shall be an official launch of this initiative to the public on the 27th of this month in Abuja, where the compendium of the President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration shall be made available to the public”, he said.
