In a stern warning to criminal elements operating within the nation’s capital, the newly appointed Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), CP (Prof.) Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, has declared that the FCT will no longer be a sanctuary for lawlessness.
Taking over the mantle of leadership at the Command Headquarters, CP Sanusi emphasized a transition toward a proactive, intelligence-driven, and “relentless” security architecture designed to flush out criminals before they strike.
During his maiden press briefing, CP Sanusi, a professor of law enforcement, made it clear that his tenure would be defined by results. Known for his zero-tolerance approach to crime in previous postings, he assured residents that he intends to build upon the foundations laid by his predecessor while introducing sharper, more strategic measures.
“As many who are familiar with my professional approach will attest, crime does not thrive where I serve.
“Under my leadership, the Command will be proactive, intelligence-driven, and professional. We shall leave no stone unturned in ensuring that criminal elements are identified, pursued, and flushed out of the FCT”, the Commissioner stated.
Addressing the underworld directly, CP Sanusi issued an ultimatum: exit the capital or face the full weight of the law.
“To those who have chosen the path of criminality, be advised that the FCT is no longer a safe haven for you.
“You are strongly advised to desist from all forms of unlawful activities, pack up, and exit, or be prepared to face the relentless arm of the law”, he warned.
The Commissioner also turned his attention inward, addressing the officers and men of the FCT Command.
He stressed that while the hunt for criminals will be aggressive, the conduct of the police must remain beyond reproach.
He warned that indiscipline or unprofessionalism—especially in dealings with the public—would not be tolerated under his watch.
Recognizing that the police cannot operate in a vacuum, CP Sanusi called for a strengthened partnership between the force and FCT residents.
Highlighting an “open-door policy,” he urged the public to act as the “eyes and ears” of the Command. Security is a collective responsibility.”
Sanusi added: “I encourage members of the public to engage with us, share information, and partner with us in safeguarding our communities. The Police is here to work with you and for you.”
The CP concluded by expressing his profound gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for the appointment.
He pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him by working “round the clock” to ensure the Federal Capital Territory remains a safe and secure environment for all.
