The new Commissioner of Police (CP) in Kano state, Salman Dogo Garba, has assumed office with a promise to ensure adequate security of lives and properties in the state.
Garba has assumed office at a time when the state is witnessing a wave if thugs activities, but vowed to tackle criminality within the city and its environs.
He solicited the cooperation of the Kano residents as according to him, the public support would aide in bring peace and restore the image of the commercial city.
At a farewell ceremony organized to honor his predecessor, Mohammad Hussein Gumel, who was promoted to Assistant Inspector General, AIG, CP Dogo solicited the support and cooperation of officers, men, and the general public to achieve this objective.
AIG Gumel, who was recently promoted, thanked the officers and men of the Kano Police Command for their support during his tenure, urging them to extend the same support to the new CP.
The ceremony also saw the presentation of awards to police officers, men, and philanthropists for their contributions to promoting peace in the state.
The Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kano Chapter, presented an award of excellence to AIG Gumel for his outstanding performance during his tenure.
With the new CP at the helm, the Kano Police Command is expected to intensify its efforts in combating crime and ensuring a safer Kano for all.
