New Magistrates to be assigned to vacant courts – Registrar

The Chief Registrar of High Court, Jibrin Abubakar Zabbo, has said that Niger State Judicial Service Commission JSC, is to appoint new magistrates to man some magistrate courts that are vacant across the state.
Zabbo made the disclosure yesterday while speaking with newsmen in Minna.
He said the screening of qualified candidates to occupy the magisterial positions has already commenced.
The Registrar revealed that it is the intention of the Judiciary to take administration of justice closer to the people that has necessitated the opening of new magistrates courts and the plan to engage new magistrates.
Zabo further revealed that the position of the Secretary to the State Judicial Service Commission is vacant added that arrangements have begun to appoint a substantiative secretary for the Commission
The Chief Registrar also said that in line with existing protocol, the Secretary of the Commission has been zoned but said the appointee will not be picked from the state where the Chief Judge of the state comes from.
