New Year: NSCDC assures residents of safety

Residents of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been assured of their safety, even as they go about celebrating the successful crossover into the New Year, 2018.
They are implored to fully participate in the celebrations, having nothing to worry about as measures have been taken to safeguard lives and property within the nation’s capital city and its environs.
This assurance was given by the FCT Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), during a chat with newsmen in Abuja.
The Corps reiterated that it isworking together to in collaboration with other security agencies to ensure a safe and peaceful celebrations across the Territory.
According to the Commandant in charge of the NSCDC, FCT Command, Patrick Ukpan, throughout the Yuletide period, security had been beefed up in the FCT, in order to facilitate a hitch-free celebrations.
He reiterated that the NSCDC alone deployed 3000 personnel to critical places in the FCT, so as to enhance security in the Territory during Yuletide season.
He equally revealed that the Corps has increased its patrols and surveillance around places like worship centres, parks and recreation centres; including Kaduna, Kogi road,Nasarawa and Niger Expressways amongst several other places.
Ukpan further stressed that FCT Command’s Armed Squad are on the alert to provide extra security and Disaster and emergency units are also on standby to provide first hand assistance and to respond aptly in case of emergencies.
He added that the the decision to beef up security measures in the FCT, is to ensure that we enhance the safety lives and property, therefore people should feel very comfortable celebrating the New Year.
Ukpan while wishing the residents a prosperous New Year, promised that the Corps and other security agencies would sustain current security measures, to ensure efficient and conducive environment for all lawful activities throughout 2018 and beyond.
The FCT-NSCDC bosshowever implored the residents to always be vigilant, established obey rules and order of the Territory.
He added that the populace should support security agencies, by reporting every unusual and suspected act or individual to them for necessary action.
