Abuja based Newspaper distributor Chief Benjamin Onyenezi Obute has been honoured with the, ‘Great Motivator’s Award’ by the Affa Youth Progressive Association, Abuja chapter.
The award which was informed by the recipient’s sustained contributions to the development of Affa Community in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, came during the Annual Cultural Day Celebration of the Association at the Patience Jonathan Centre, Nyanya, Abuja.
Speaking at the occasion, President of the youth association Comrade Ikenna Udeh said that the annual event was to sustain the rich cultural heritage of the Affa Community for the benefit of posterity.
According to him, culture as a way of life of the people, must be preserved at all cost in the interest of generations unborn. He commended the efforts of his kinsmen and women who have demonstrated genuine commitment towards the community’s cultural revival and development.
Earlier, Chief Obute popularly known as Aso Rock had urged Affa Youths to champion the development of their community, advising them to look inwards and avail themselves of the various skill acquisition programmes in place and avoid relying on people as the days of free lunch are gone.
It could be recalled that Chief Benjamin Obute has in his philanthropic disposition awarded scholarship opportunities to more than twenty students, provided skill acquisition programmes to unemployed youths as well as empowering widows and the down trodden with funds to embark on various trades for survival.
Highlights of the occasion include Cultural display, conferment of Chieftaincy titles and awards on deserving youths of Affa community, and the lunching of one hundred and fifty (150,000,000) million naira youth centre.
