The General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, Musa Amadu has confirmed that the Super Eagles will play more friendly matches after the games against Cote D’ Ivoire and Sudan.
The Super Eagles play the Elephants of Cote D’ Ivoire and the Jediane Falcons of Sudan in two international friendlies in January, after failing to make the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
And Amadu confirms that the NFF are discussing with several countries to see how they can arrange for more friendly matches for the Eagles to cover the next FIFA free windows.
“We will play more friendly matches this year and I can tell you that we are already discussing with some football federations about the possibility of playing their national teams in friendly matches in the next FIFA free windows.
“Looking at the fact that we didn’t qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, the Nigeria Football Federation is doing everything within its powers to ensure we get more games for the Super Eagles,” Amadu told sl10.ng.
But despite confirming the possibility of playing more friendly matches, Amadu however refused to disclose the countries they are currently in discussions with over the possibility of having these friendly games.
“I cannot disclose to you these countries yet but I’m sure they will be made known when discussions are finalized,” he added.
Sl10.ng have however been informed that Serbia is one of the countries the NFF are considering, with the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick telling sl10.ng last November that ‘we are discussing with some countries about friendly matches and Serbia is one of them’.
