NGO disburses over N5m to 26 women groups in Bauchi

An NGO, Women Empowerment Initiative (WEIN) Bauchi has disbursed the sum of five million , six hundred and forty-seven thousand, nine hundred and forty naira (N5,640,940 ) to 26 women groups, just as its lament poor toilets facilities in public places

The Coordinator WEIN Bauchi, Mrs Tabawa S Atiku disclosed this at the 2014 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the NGO and celebration of World Toilet Day yesterday, in Bauchi

According to her WEIN in its micro credit facilities , in the first eight months of the year, the organization was able to disburse the sum of 5,640,940,00 naira to 202 clients,194 of this number are from 26 women groups while 18 are individuals clients

“We decided to commemorate this day “World Toilet Day” because WEIN has been working in the area of Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) promotion since in the year 2000; within this period not less than 42 communities benefited from water points and over 650 households benefited with latrines”, Mrs Turaki said.

She stressed that though WEIN for two years have not been funded to carry out WASH activities. Tabawa added that “we want to continue giving our voice to need for the provision of good sanitation facilities in our schools and other public places”.
