As part of activities to commemorate the 59th Independence celebration; a Non-governmental organization known as YANGA Community has embarked on a nationwide charity outreach to the less privilege in the society with particular reference to orphanages, IDPs camps and hospital visitation.
In a press statement signed and made available to newsmen yesterday in Lafia by the coordinator, a Nigeria born citizen Rachel Kigbu said “Yanga is a global initiative registered in the United States of America aimed at mobilizing public spirited individuals around the globe for the Africa project”.
According to the statement “Our fundamental objectives is to bridge gaps hither to neglected in mitigating the 21st century global challenges of poverty, illiteracy, human trafficking, terrorism and other forms of social imbalance which has a latent effects on human existence”.
The statement continued “We have decided to commence the pilot face of our projects, stating with Nigeria using the independence celebration to reach out to the less privilege in some states of the federation with food items, Medicare, relief materials and cash gifts worth millions of Naira in demonstration of our passion for hunger and disease free world”.
“Global peace is threatened, the humanitarian crisis has assumed a worrisome dimension from whichever perspectives one views prevailing situation. Concerted efforts must be put in place to ensure a one peaceful and united world for all”. The statement added.
The coordinator maintained that Yanga has volunteered to carry out a coordinated and balanced social mobilization strategy in partnership with the United Nations, UNICEF, UNIDO Corporations and other public spirited individuals with the sole aim of ending the scourge of humanitarian crisis.
