NGO gives N3.94b lifeline to 52, 000 pregnant women in Jigawa

No fewer than 52,000 pregnant women have benefited from Child Grant Development Programme initiated by a non governmental organisation, Action Against Hunger.
This was announced by the Jigawa state coordinator of the Action Against Hunger comrade Muhammad Sabiu during a CDGP close out meeting with critical stakeholder held yesterday at state secretariat Dutse.
He explained that, the programme which was commenced four years ago in three selected local government with aim to reduce maternal mortality rate and malnutrition in the state.
According to him, the three selected local government includes; Buji local government, Kirikasamma, and Gagarawa local government areas of the state.
Comrade Sabiu maintained that, in Buji local government N1.486 billion was distributed to 26,000 pregnant women as monthly cash transfer.
While in Gagarawa local government area the sum of N8.4 million was distributed to 11,000 pregnant women and N1.6 billion was disbursed to 26,000 pregnant women in Kirikasamma local government.
He then appreciated the support given by the people in the state particularly media, civil society organisations and all other stakeholders for the success of the programme.
