NGO sponsors 50 children to for Quranic memorization in Kano

A Non Governmental Organization, NGO, under the auspices of Namama Charity Foundation has sponsored no fewer than fifty children to study and memorize Quran in Ahlu Badar Islamiyya Littahfizul Quran at Sheka quarters in Kumbotso Local Government area of the state.
Announcing the sponsorship to newsmen at the fifth Quranic graduation ceremony of 140 students of the school on Sunday, Abdullahi Namama, one of the trustees of the foundation, said the beneficiaries of the scholarship would be less privileged, especially orphans.
According to him, the foundation would pay N18,000 registration fee to each of the beneficiaries for two-year period of the study and each would get uniform, instructional materials and some stipends to enable them study without hindrance.
He said that the foundation would pay the registration fee upfront, amounting to N900, 000.
Mr Namama, who holds the traditional title of Danmajen Ringim, said he had directed the management of the school to commence screening of students that would be expected to benefit, emphasising that they should look for less privileged to benefit in a bid to enable them memorize Quran and get Islamic knowledge despite their economic hardship.
Mr Namama stated that he had decided to offer the gesture in order to help the children of the poor, especially orphans and to encourage memorization of the glorious Quran.
“We did this for the sake of Allah. We did it to help out the children of less privileged to acquire Quran and other Islamic knowledge, instead of abandoning them to be roaming the street and become nuisance in the society.
“ I therefore directed the school management to embark of screening of those to benefit from the scholarship, but they must be less privileged, especially orphans,” he disclosed.
In his remarks, the Director of the school, Sheikh Auwalu Rijalu expresses happiness over the gesture and assured that the management would be transparent in the screening process.
He explained that the school, founded in 2006, had graduated 117 Quranic memorizers and 257 reciters so far, adding that it had also graduated 106 reciters and 34 memorizers in the ceremony held on Sunday.
Mr Rijalu also assured that the management of the school would be up and doing to ensure that they scholarship beneficiaries memorize the holy book within the stipulated two years.
While calling on other wealthy individuals to emulate the gesture by the Namama Charity Foundation, the Director thanks the trustees of the NGO and pray to Allah to reward them abundantly.
